Abused Werewolf Rescue Group- There's FINALLY a release date!

The Abused WEREWOLF Rescue Group by Catherine Jinks
04/04/11
------------

"I still hadn't fully absorbed the terrible possibility that I might actually be a werewolf. A werewolf. I kept stumbling over that word; it made no sense to me. How could I be a werewolf? Werewolves didn't exist."
When Tobias Richard Vandevelde wakes up in hospital with no memory of the night before, his horrified mother tells him that he was found by the police. At Featherdale Park. In a dingo pen.
As if that isn't weird enough, suddenly a very menacing looking guy and a priest show up at his door.

As the mystery unfolds, Toby finds himself keeping company with some very strange and sickly looking people - members of a suburban vampire support group. And when he's abducted in broad daylight, he will need all their help to break free ... and to come to terms with his own incredibly rare condition.

It feels as if I have been waiting thousands of years for this book to be more than a mere promise from Catherine Jinks. I completely fell in love with not only her werewolf mythology, but her vampire one as well, in the first book The Reformed Vampire Support Group. In a genre full of über-sexy, hyper-beautiful, and seemlessly-integrated-into-society vampire fiction, Jinks went and wrote a scathing antithesis to the vampire stereotype. Sickly, cowardly, allergy-crippled, gerbile-sucking, loveable and loathable characters were born. Literally forced into a relucant bravery that by the end of the book, made the effort all the more heroic.

RVSG introduced Reuben, a werewolf, kidnapped and forced to survive by  fighting to the death in an illegal outback dogfighting ring. His only escape were his copies of Harry Potter and His Dark Materials. This tiny luxary in a harsh life, while imprisoned and alone, is only part of what made Reuben so terribly endearing. How could I not fall for this guy!!!

Don't get me wrong, I think that the sexy vampire is not only necessary, but it's essential to all us urban fantasy fans. It's just that it can't be the only thing out there either. I'm so thrilled that we will have one last chance to revisit the vampires at the Reformed Vampire Support Group and meet the delicious werewolves of the new Abused Werewolf Rescue Group.
