What I'm Excited About: Darker Still by Leanna Renee Hieber

DARKER STILL
Magic Most Foul Book One
by Leanna Renee Hieber
Coming November 8, 2011

The shadows deepen on the gaslit streets of New York City in the year 1880. Curses and spirits, demons and rituals, blood and faith, love and danger; such is the stuff of Magic Most Foul. Find your voice... or else.

I was obsessed.
--------------------------
It was as if he called to me, demanding I reach out and touch the brushstrokes of color swirled onto the canvas. It was the most exquisite portrait I’d ever seen. Everything about Lord Denbury was unbelievable. So lifelike.
----------------------------------------------------------
There’s a reason for that. Because despite what everyone says, Denbury never did commit suicide. He’s alive. Trapped. I’ve crossed over into his world within the painting and I’ve seen what dark dreams haunt him. They haunt me too. He and I are inextricably linked. And whatever demons may be out on the gas-lit cobblestone streets of Manhattan, we have no choice but to face them together…

A lush Gothic tale that begs for reading… I couldn’t put it down.” – New York Times Bestselling Author Sarah Maclean

I cannot wait for this book. There are not enough gothic historical fantasy romances coming out this year in YA to satisfy my hunger for them, but I am over the moon that Darker Still is one of the New Releases for 2011. The book feels like it has a dose of the dangerous romance of Jane Eyre and the feel of The Picture of Dorian Gray combined with such a lush, gritty, dangerous and unique backdrop to the YA genre. As a book geek bonus, it will come out when the weather is cold and gloomy making this the perfect book to hide under the covers and devour. In the mean time I'll have dreams of Lord Denbury.
