city of ashes contest

I dare you not to love this series.
April is City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare month, and if you comment on this post you will be entered to win this perfect and amazing book that I couldn't put down. The months leading up to it's release were excruciating. The holy trinity of YA urban fantasy novels should be: Twilight/City of Bones (and this should include all the books in the series!)/Wicked Lovely. These are required reading for the most fantastic and amazing reading in the genre.

"Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go -- especially her handsome, infuriating, new found brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil -- and also her father. To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings -- and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father? In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

Read the excerpt and don't forget to comment to win City of Ashes!

I can't wait to read "City of Ashes." "City of Bones" was amazing. I saw your recommendation for the holy trinity of fantasy and I agree. Though, I also love the "Faerie Path" trilogy and for sci-fi you might want to try "Epic" by Conor Kostick. Excellent book!

I'm plowing through my copy of CITY OF ASHES now. (In other words, don't enter me in the contest.) Clare's really keeping up the standard she set for herself - in fact, I'm enjoying this even more than COB.

Twilight, on the other hand, far surpassed its sequels.

perla said...

Lavinia,
You are in my estimation, totally right. COA is better than COB, while I only truely connected with Twilight. Don't get me wrong, I love Edward Cullen enough to keep reading the series. But for me, Jace is a much more magnetic and exciting character. And Clary is vulnerable without being weak (cough, like Bella). But this is just my humble opinion which only matters to me.

I'd definitely love to win a copy of this book. I still need to read the first in the series though. I'm behind!

I'd love to win this book! Sounds great!

Perla,
I'm always right, of course. ^_^

I absolutely agree with you about Bella being weak. In Twilight, I didn't mind much, but it seemed to become more noticable and less tolerable in the later books. Perhaps because I was expecting her to grow?

But, oh my, how dare Clare end COA there. I need the sequel stat.
