I'm Excited About..... Dead Rules by Randy Russell

Dead Rules
Book One
Available: 6/21/2011

Sometimes falling in love means you've got to kill somebody.

Jana Webster and Michael Haynes were destined to be together forever. Of that, Jana was sure.

But Jana just died—in a bowling accident. And now she’s trapped in Dead School. Jana is certain that it won’t be long before Michael kills himself in order to spend eternity with her—but the days are passing and Michael is, inexplicably, still alive. So Jana decides to take matters into her own hands. And nothing—not even Dead School bad boy Mars Dreamcote’s enticingly warm touch or the devastating secret he holds about her death—will stop her from making her dreams come true.

I covet this book more than almost any other 2011 new release. I am keeping my hopes up that this delivers on all that deliciously macabre titillation in the synopsis. Mysterious death, murderous thoughts, a bad boy with a broody name, and deluded first love= all the ingredients to one sensational story to keep you up all night. I can't wait!

Great cover. This book sounds deeply disturbing. Adding it to my TBR pile!

Perla, thanks so much for showing the cover! I think you're the first. Miss-Deathwish at deviantart.com did the photo manips (there's a boy on the back of the jacket) and I am so lucky to benefit from her outstanding touch. Meanwhile, I want so bad to use Rochelle's comment as a cover blurb: This book sounds deeply disturbing. Love it!

This book is my absolute favorite of the year! I loved it so much I'm even reading it for a second time now. I can't wait for others to read it so we can talk about it! Jana and Mars beat Edward and Bella, just sayin'...

Hey Randy! Did you say there's a boy on the back cover?! I can't wait to see this. I am almost literally dying to read this book. And as for Ruta Sepetys and Marissa who have read it, my jealousy knows no bounds.

P.S. Ruta Sepetys your book Between Shades of Gray sounds phenomenal.

Perla, I am so LUCKY. Miss-Deathwish won them over at HarperTeen with the front cover and so they asked her to do something for the back of the jacket. Meanwhile, I just get to sit here and have full art covers front and back. :-) And, yes, it's a guy on the back - same size as the girl on front. Miss-Deathwish(Bailey Elizabeth), btw, is a teenager. She's SO talented!
