The Seventh Son aka The Last Apprentice Movie

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have released two new stills from the upcoming Sergei Bodrov-directed fantasy film The Seventh Son, which is based on the first installment of The Last Apprentice novels by Joseph Delaney.
Ben Barnes as Tom Ward and Jeff Bridges as Master Gregory

In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more. Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) is a knight who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch, Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore), centuries ago. But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance. Summoning her followers of every incarnation, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world. Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory.

In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return. Now he has only until the next full moon to do what usually takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) to fight a d
ark magic unlike any other. Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son.

There have been some disappointments when it comes to big star studded casts in fantasy movies (Eragon come to mind). And I haven't seen any of director Sergey Bodrov's previous films, so I have NO idea what the final product will be for Seventh Son. But, I am very hopeful. The cast is beyond cool, most notably my Game of Thrones obsession is fed by the addition of Kit Harington whom we all know as pouty mouthed Jon Snow (love him).
Kit Harrington and Alicia Vikander

I'm still loving the casting of Alicia Vikander, who plays Alice, who while lesser known, has put out some cool movies this year. You may know from 2012's Anna Karenina (she plays Kitty in this uber stylized film), or the danish romantic drama A Royal Affair. Rounding out the cast led by Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, and Jeff Bridges is Djimon Hounsou and Olivia Williams. Set for release by 10/13/13, I am hoping this dark fantasy delivers on all of it's promise.
