Cover Reveal: These Gentle Wounds by Helene Dubar

Coming May 2014
Publisher: Flux

Fifteen-year old Gordie Allen is a survivor, but all he feels is guilty for not saving the rest of his family during a terrible night five years ago. He copes by keeping to himself, caring only about school, hockey, and his older half-brother Kevin, who has been his best and only friend for as long as he can remember.

Sophomore year brings a variety of new challenges, though. For some reason, gutsy Sarah Miller seems to like him, but it’s the reappearance of his volatile father that cracks the fragile wall Gordie has built around himself. And while his growing relationship with Sarah both comforts and baffles him, it also drives a wedge between him and his brother.

All of these relationships are pushed to their breaking points when Gordie learns that his father has another child, a young boy who is suffering abuse at his father’s hands. This time he’s determined to do what he couldn’t five years before, take a stand to stop his father even if it means confronting the demons of the present to keep from drowning in the past.

This cover is EVERYTHING. It reminds me of A Separate Peace, right? I know that the two books are completely different, but still.... Anyway, everything about this book makes me want to read it. The cover was revealed today on YA Book Central, they are having a giveaway that everyone should check out and join!

Thank you so much for posting this! A Separate Peace was one of my favorite books in high school actually so I take any comparison at all as a huge compliment. And the cover....I'm so in love with it! :-)
