-------------------------------------------------------
A group of three young thieves are pulled into a centuries old magical war between ancient beings, mages, and humanity in this wildly original debut epic fantasy.
The city has always been. The city must finally end. When three thieves - an orphan, a ghoul, and a cursed man - are betrayed by the master of the thieves guild, their quest for revenge uncovers dark truths about their city and exposes a dangerous conspiracy, the seeds of which were sown long before they were born.

Cari is a drifter whose past and future are darker than she can know. Rat is a Ghoul, whose people haunt the city's underworld. Spar is a Stone Man, subject to a terrible disease that is slowly petrifying his flesh. Chance has brought them together, but their friendship could be all that stands in the way of total armageddon.

The Walking Wounded: Black Iron Legacy RPG
I had only one hiccup in my complete and total immersion-gluttonous-binging of this book in one brain-busting session, the sheer multitudinous array of POV's. From the jump, I already had my favorite characters. Those just sing off the page, but having to keep leaving them in dire peril so often, to slog through someone completely different, was often infuriating. But I see my reaction as a testament to Hanrahan's character craftsmanship, and soon I found myself mightily invested in all the storylines.

The story is dense, the plot rich, the danger tangible, and the worldbuilding is simultaneously out-of-control-amazing AND horrifying. There is more wonder and ichor in one tiny corner of this city, than in a dozen other series by other authors you could be reading, combined. Can I tell you that I COULD and still can HEAR, not just imagine, but HEAR in my HEAD, the character of Rat eat? Our ghoul Rat eats corpses, and it is...... descriptive. And I didn't hate it!

The stars of the show, at least for my preferances, are both Cari and Spar. Spar is everything stubborn and noble that you'd wish a Stone Man/hero to be; intelligent, empathetic, philosophical, intelligent, enduring, and suffering. How can you not love a good man who is suffering whilst he is looking out for the downtrodden???

And Cari, she is a bit like a stray cat that Spar and Rat have made a little family with. She's liable to; bite, scratch, stab you, run, disappear at any moment, but unique as a character because while she is unwillingly pulled into circumstances, no one has to force her to do the right thing. She does the right thing- even if she is getting petty revenge- because she is good hearted, and because she's learned it from Spar. His influence and steadfastness inspires her, she doesn't want to let him down. She knows it'd be letting
herself down as a person. I just LOVE them so much.

I'll not spoil any other characters or plot, it twists and turns, and you THINK you know where solid ground is, but you don't. Just know that mythology, theology, politics, and magic all come together to make one thoroughly unique and incomparable read. ALL the stars.

The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, called "a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love"
Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she'll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.

In Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi created a captivating and original story that combined the best of dystopian and paranormal and was praised by Publishers Weekly as "a gripping read from an author who's not afraid to take risks." The sequel, Unravel Me, blew readers away with heart-racing twists and turns, and New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia said it was "dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense." Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and climactic end.

Praise for the Shatter Me series:

"Dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense. I dare you to stop reading."-Kami Garcia, #1 New York Times bestselling coauthor of the Beautiful Creatures series

"Tahereh Mafi's bold, inventive prose crackles with raw emotion. A thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love, the Shatter Me series is a must-read for fans of dystopian young adult literature-or any literature!"-Ransom Riggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

"Addictive, intense, and oozing with romance. I'm envious. I couldn't put it down."-Lauren Kate, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fallen series

According to a recent author signing by Tahereh Mafi, she has promised to deliver the much teased and not at all delivered goods in IGNITE ME. Warren, it's all about Warren for me now. And I know in my bones that he is the real of Juliette's life. Just saying! Loved Alex in SHATTER ME, but DESTROY ME changed everything. Then UNRAVEL ME just put the nail in the coffin of Juliette and Alex's relationship. This is all speculation, but I really hope I'm right. And above all, I hope Juliette embraces her power and fights back!!

After setting out to break the curse that binds them together, the pirate Ananna and the assassin Naji find themselves stranded on an enchanted island in the north with nothing but a sword, their wits, and the secret to breaking the curse: complete three impossible tasks. With the help of their friend Marjani and a rather unusual ally, Ananna and Naji make their way south again, seeking what seems to be beyond their reach.

Unfortunately, Naji has enemies from the shadowy world known as the Mists, and Ananna must still face the repercussions of going up against the Pirate Confederation. Together, Naji and Ananna must break the curse, escape their enemies — and come to terms with their growing romantic attraction.

"For those of you who were wondering, the creature on the front cover is a manticore, and she will play a fairly sizable role in the sequel. Here’s a quick taste:
She padded up close to me and leaned down and sniffed with her pretty human-looking nose, then settled back on her haunches, her tail curling up into a point behind her. Hadn’t been darts she’d flung at me, but spines, and poisonous ones at that, if the stories were anything to go by. I kept my eye on that tail.
“I only shot at you when I thought you were an ally of the wizard-human,” she said. “I do not care for the taste of girl-humans.”
Thanks for looking!" --from Cassandra Rose Clarke's blog.

I heaped a lot of expectations onto this book, I had a dream list of things I fiercely NEEDED for this book to deliver. And while nothing happened as I had imagined- so many unexpected things kept my nerves on edge or butterflies a fluttering- this was an absolute wish fulfillment.

New characters gave this second book a new feel and new dimensions- esp. the manticore who was so awesome and infuriating. But the shining stars of the book were it's heroes, Annana who felt so real and so human in this book- so much like in the first book- readers will relate and sympathize with her insecurities, hurt pride, fear, and embarrassment. But readers will wish they were her for all of her cleverness, her bravery, and her capacity for love. As for Naji, there is no words for how much I love him. His power is so incredible, so much of what makes him awesome is his magic, like how it makes him glow, how it makes him feared, how it makes him conflicted, how it has scarred him. Loved every inch of this book, this series. Cannot say goodbye.
